- Ya know, I was just thinking about this entire thing the other day...
- Glad I came to read news today. I was trying to decide if I should
- remove the resistors from my 3000 mother board. It doesn't say to (it
- says, as people have mentioned, just to terminate the last internal
- and last external). I then went to the back of my handy 3000 manual
- to see what they did circuitry wise. As far as I can tell (though I'm
- no SCSI expert), the resistor packs should not be there. I'll sum up
- what I saw:
-
- The internal bus comes in to the resistor pack. The other side of the
- resistor pack connects to both the SCSI controller chip AND to the
- external 25-pin connector.
-
- Now, most of the time my 3000 runs without external drives. When I
- have hooked up external stuff, I've often had small wierd problems
- (no matter which cables I use). One drive in particular messes up the
- high bit of every file (ack! solve that one!) Anyway, this is what
- prompted me into looking into the termination problem. As far as I
- can tell from the schematics, my chain is currently terminated 3
- times: at both ends and once in the middle next to the SCSI
- controller. This doesn't seem right.
-
- Any other experts out there that can answer this problem for me (us)?
